Marantz Cinema 40 – 9.4 Channel Reference AV Amplifier (Black) Description:

The Marantz Cinema 40 is the second-tier flagship in Marantz's acclaimed CINEMA range — built for serious South African home theatre owners who want reference-level performance in a slightly more compact footprint than the range-topping Cinema 30.

In simple terms, this unit is the command centre of your home cinema. It powers up to 9 speakers directly, with pre-outs for 2 more, so you can build a full 7.1.4 or 5.1.6 Dolby Atmos layout with height or ceiling speakers for genuine three-dimensional sound. Each channel delivers 125W of clean power — enough to fill a large lounge or dedicated cinema room with clear dialogue, punchy effects, and bass you feel as much as hear. Four independent subwoofer outputs let you fine-tune low-end response across the whole room, not just one corner of it.

Seven 8K-ready HDMI inputs future-proof the Cinema 40 for next-gen consoles and 4K/120 gaming, while built-in HEOS streaming brings Spotify, TIDAL, Apple Music and more straight into the system — with AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth as backup. Vinyl lovers get a built-in phono input, so a turntable plugs in without extra gear. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 automatically measures and calibrates your room's acoustics (with Dirac Live available as an upgrade), taking the guesswork out of setup.

Hand-tuned in Japan by a Marantz Sound Master and built at the famed Shirakawa facility, the Cinema 40 carries the brand's signature warm, spacious sound — paired with the iconic gold porthole display and illuminated side panels that make it as striking to look at as it is to listen to.

For anyone assembling a true reference-grade home cinema without stepping up to the Cinema 30's higher channel count, the Cinema 40 delivers exceptional value at the top end of the range.
