Whether you’re building a dedicated stereo system or a premium Home Theatre, the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4 combines flagship technologies with a practical design that suits a wider variety of homes.
Why Choose the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4?
The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4 occupies one of the most popular positions in the 800 Series Diamond range. It shares many of the same advanced technologies found in the larger flagship models while offering a more compact footprint that’s easier to position in medium to large listening rooms.
Rather than sacrificing performance for convenience, the 804 D4 delivers the signature Bowers & Wilkins sound with outstanding transparency, natural vocals and impressive low-frequency performance.
If you’re searching for high-end floorstanding speakers that offer reference-level performance without requiring an oversized room, the 804 D4 deserves serious attention.
Diamond Dome Tweeter: Exceptional High-Frequency Accuracy
Every Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4 Floorstanding Speaker features the legendary Diamond Dome Tweeter, one of the defining technologies of the 800 Series Diamond range.
Diamond is used because it is exceptionally stiff, allowing the tweeter to move with incredible precision while reducing unwanted distortion.
The result is:
- Crystal-clear vocals
- Natural cymbal detail
- Wider soundstage
- Smooth, fatigue-free listening
- Outstanding detail retrieval
Instead of sounding bright or exaggerated, the treble remains balanced, refined and incredibly lifelike.
Continuum™ Midrange Driver Delivers Natural Vocals
The heart of every great speaker is its ability to reproduce voices accurately.
The 804 D4 uses Bowers & Wilkins’ renowned Continuum™ FST midrange cone, developed specifically to eliminate the coloration found in traditional cone materials.
This allows vocals and acoustic instruments to sound remarkably realistic, preserving the subtle textures and emotion within every performance.
Whether you’re listening to jazz, classical, rock or movie dialogue, the Continuum driver keeps the midrange clean, open and highly detailed.
Aerofoil™ Bass Drivers Produce Powerful, Controlled Bass
Bass should be deep without becoming overwhelming.
The 804 D4 features dual 6.5-inch Aerofoil bass drivers, engineered with a variable-thickness cone profile that combines rigidity with low weight.
This advanced construction delivers bass that is:
- Deep
- Fast
- Controlled
- Accurate
- Rich in texture
Instead of simply producing more bass, the Aerofoil drivers allow you to distinguish individual instruments and low-frequency details that lesser speakers often blur together.
Redesigned Cabinet for Greater Performance
The latest-generation Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4 benefits from significant cabinet improvements over previous models.
A redesigned enclosure and upgraded plinth increase overall rigidity while reducing unwanted resonance.
These enhancements improve:
- Bass precision
- Stereo imaging
- Overall stability
- Dynamic performance
- Low-frequency control
The result is a speaker that disappears into the music, allowing the recording—not the cabinet—to become the focus.
The Perfect Balance Between Size and Performance
The 804 D4 is often considered the ideal choice for buyers who want premium floorstanding speakers without moving to the physically larger 803 D4, 802 D4 or flagship 801 D4.
Its slimmer proportions make placement easier while still delivering:
- Wide soundstage
- Exceptional dynamics
- Outstanding imaging
- Deep bass extension
- Reference-quality clarity
For many homes, it represents the perfect balance between performance and practicality.
Ideal for Stereo Music and Premium Home Theatre Systems
The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D4 Floorstanding Speakers excel in both dedicated stereo systems and luxury Home Theatre installations.
Pair them with premium electronics from Marantz, Denon or other high-performance amplification, and they deliver an immersive listening experience that faithfully reproduces every recording.
The 804 D4 also integrates seamlessly with the rest of the 800 Series Diamond range, making it an excellent foundation for a complete surround sound system.

Is the 804 D4 suitable for Home Theatre?
Absolutely. It performs exceptionally as the front left and right speakers in premium Home Theatre systems while delivering superb stereo music performance.
