Description of the Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker:
Mission brings its 40 years of audio expertise to this all new speaker range. The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker has a striking look and impressive performance – offering amazing value for both Hi-Fi and AV setup.
Advanced new designs and extensive listening tests have evolved loudspeakers that offer exciting and dramatic performance, no matter what style of music and movies you prefer.
The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker boast bass drivers that feature Mission’s DiaDrive system, a seam-free curvilinear cone that has been formulated from a mixture of a soft pump and acrylic fibre.
This DiaDrive system has been specially designed in order to provide these stunning speakers with natural midrange clarity and lucidity.
Backing this curvilinear front cone is stiff, conical support that creates an increased area of contact with the voice coil in order to produce an outstanding transient impact.
Finally, the drive unit surround and the fixing screws have all been cleverly concealed behind a unique comb-tooth trim – a design that gives the front face of the speaker its signature “high-tech” look.
Design and Drivers:
The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker has been designed to marry advanced engineering with stylish and attractive aesthetics, allowing them to seamlessly integrate within any pre-existing system and match almost every type of home décor.
The front panel of these speakers both hints at the advanced technology held within and present an attractive face to the listener.
The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker utilizes Mission’s Inverted Driver Geometry (IDG) driver format which positions the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, equalizing the length of the signal path and thus allowing the sound waves to coincide at head height for the listener.
This driver design principle will improve time alignment and offer an overall better response when listening to music or watching movies.
This combination of textile dome and multi-ring surround will help to achieve the optimum stiffness across the maximum radiating area.
To top this all off, the Mission Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker then incorporates a twin rear cavity non-reflecting design to vent back pressure from the diaphragm into a twin rear cavity, thus reducing any resonance and maintaining a wide operating bandwidth.
When it comes to aesthetics, the Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker works hard to ensure they remain stylish whilst able to fit within any system, but the design aspects of the speakers have more than one function.
Aluminum top and bottom plates enhance the quality of sound whilst providing a more modern feel.
A ribbon-like design across the slot ports ensures the speakers look high-tech whilst enhancing the airflow and avoiding any chuffing from within the bass reflex ports.
Resulting in a low-frequency performance that achieves lower levels of distortion.
The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker arc-shaped cabinet corners employ a semi-circular shape to the corners of the speaker in order to smooth diffraction from the drive units, thus allowing them to yield better power distribution into the listening area.
Aluminium Top Plate:
The inclusion of aluminum top and bottom plates to the cabinet not only gives an attractive, high-tech appearance to the speakers but also enhances sound quality.
The added mass and stiffness reduces resonance from the cabinet walls, lowering colouration and distortion. The Mission Floorstanding Speaker uses the extension of the bottom plate to improve stability with carpet piercing spikes.
Reverse Geometry Driven Design:
Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker utilizes Mission’s classic IDG (Inverted Driver Geometry) driver format. By positioning the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, the length of the path is equalized so the sound waves coincide at the listener’s head height.
This principle improves ‘time alignment’ and thus transient performance.
Natural midrange quality with superb bass transient impact is provided by a seam-free curvilinear cone formulated from a mixture of soft pulp and acrylic fiber specially designed for midrange clarity and lucidity.
Backing the curvilinear front cone is stiff, conical support with increased area of contact with the voice coil for outstanding transient impact.
The Mission 2-way Floorstanding Speaker surround drive unit and fixing screws are cleverly concealed behind this unique trim design giving a highly technical look to the front face of the speaker.
